My story illustrates the miracle of prayer. I was born with a congenital defect in my lower spine. It is called spondylolisthesis, a fancy term for slippage of the vertebrae.

This caused the rest of the spine to shift. By the time I was thirteen years old I was disfigured with a somewhat severe case of scoliosis. It deformed my rib cage area.

Imagine a young girl wanting to be pretty and attractive at adolescence, suddenly feeling like a freak who had to wear lose clothing to hide her form?

After going to the Hospital For Special Surgery in New York, I was told I would need an operation which would put me into a body caste. I would not be able to walk for an entire year. When the caste would come off I would be unable to walk! This would require extensive physical therapy to learn how again.

I was devastated. As soon as I got home from the long subway ride I ran to my bedroom fell face down into my pillow and sobbed uncontrollably. All the gods of the universe could not console me.

I did not have the operation. I chose deformity over a crippling experience. All the while, I did not give up on the idea that I would be cured through some other type of therapy.

I tried stretching, physical therapy, yoga, hanging upside down in space boots. Nothing changed until finally began to pray for guidance!

I would ask over and over again for a spiritual healing of some sort. At first nothing happened, but then I started having a dream. In the dream I was a ballerina and my spine was straight.

From this repeating dream, I realized I should take up ballet. I did. I developed a better posture. My spine and torso straightened considerably. My lower spine got stronger and the constant pain stopped.

Prayer is a way to manifest which goes beyond vision boards, affirmations and all the other tools you might have heard about. Prayer for guidance is your direct pathway to the world of miracles.

When you ask for something in prayer you are asking from your heart, not your ego or your head. By default prayer filters out nonsense, superficiality and misdirected goals.

Prayer is a tool many have never thought about in getting the Laws of the Universe to work for them, but prayer is probably one of the most important of all the techniques available to you to get your dreams to come true.
