Wikipedia mentions the Law of Attraction beginning in 1879 when The New York Times first mentions the phrase, “occult law of attraction,” in reference to the Colorado gold rush.
The fact is the very beginning of the new thought began with the writings of Emerson and Thoreau. Thoreau and Emerson taught that man could directly relate to the universe through our own sensibilities and intuition versus through what was taught by an institution. This was quite revolutionary for its time.

However, a more formalized “New Thought” religion began to emerge in the early 1900s. It was at this time that Thomas Troward, (1847-1916) who studied comparative religion, claimed that thought preceded form and that our mind will attract what we manifest.
Other contributors to shaping this philosophy include Bruce MacLelland. He wrote in his book, “Prosperity Through Thought Force,” “you are what you think, not what you think you are.”

Probably one of the most famous earliest books on the law of attraction is the Wallace D. Wattles book, “The Science of Getting Rich,” published in 1910. This remains a best seller today, especially of its mention in “The Secret.” This book states truly believing in the object of your desire will lead to its fulfillment.
Theosophical teachings of William Quan Judge and Annie Besant in the 1915-1920 timeframe mentions “The Law of Attraction.”
Napoleon Hill
Another very famous classic book today is “Think and Grow Rich,” by Napoleon Hill. This was published in 1937. However, an earlier version of this book, “Keys To Success: 17 Principles of Personal Achievement,” was a more complete version. It is thought that Henry Ford was furious at the release of this book, as it revealed secrets the successful knew.

By the mid 1900s – 2000 the Law of Attraction was embedded in many movements. It’s teachings were within the material of Science of Mind, Unity, Alice Bailey, Louis Hay, Robert Collier.
The 21st Century awakened far more individuals to the law of attraction in the movie “The Secret” (2006). At the same time Abraham Hicks published, “The Law Of Attraction,” which was on the New York Times bestseller list.
Even Oprah Winfrey devoted two episodes of her show to the law of attraction. Larry King has discussed it on his show, but points out if the Universe is so benevolent, why do we have so much lack in our world?
The law of attraction does have defects if you do not know how to work with it. I have found a great course on the law of attraction which I think will help you if you are interested in materializing your dreams.
The most modern law of attraction history is now being created. This law states the law of attraction works on the principle of feelings. When you learn how to control and create your feelings the law of attraction will work like a miracle for you.
